The 50 Most Incredible Pictures Of The Japan Earthquake And Tsunami [PICS]
As this version of Monday Madeleines went to press, news of Japan’s massive earthquake and resulting tsunami were just hitting the press. Here are some incredible early photos of the destruction, along with a link to donate through the Red Cross. Shocking is an understatement. You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to the international relief fund for Japan. Thanks to @GuyKawasaki for the early scoop.
Chrysler Splits With New Media Strategies Over F-Bomb Tweet
AdAge reports that an agency employee working on one of Chrysler’s Twitter accounts accidentally dropped the f bomb in a tweet about Detroit traffic, perhaps in fit of road rage. The agency immediately axed the employee, who claimed to have accidentally sent the tweet out under the wrong account (possibly tweeting while driving). Before the errant f-bomb tweet could be deleted, it was retweeted and picked up on some blogs. In turn, Chrysler immediately fired the agency. Thanks to @evoklarry (evok Advertising of Orlando), who brought this to our attention.
Doyald Young: Appreciations from his Friends
Doyald Young, a master of lettering and logotype design, passed away Feb. 28 at the age of 84. The artist, typographer and teacher will be remembered by many, not only for his exquisite logotype designs, but for his generosity. The comments on the Felt & Wire blog (from Mohawk Fine Papers) shed some light on Young’s life. In further tribute, Mohawk Fine Papers is making complimentary copies of Young’s book, The Art of the Letter, available to Felt & Wire readers (you can get to the offer from the link above). Thanks to @feltandwire for bringing this to our attention, for sharing the heartwarming tributes of those who knew him, and for making available what looks to be a collector’s treasure of Young’s most memorable logos and typefaces just for the asking.

Iggy Investigates an iPad
With all the catastrophic news of earthquakes and tsunamis, let’s leave things on a happier note. Now that the iPad 2 is out, you may be wondering if you should trade up, and if so, what you would do with your older iPad. Perhaps try for a trade-in credit? Or, you could give it to your cat.
