June has rolled on in, somewhat unannounced as the year just keep moving along. Here’s this week’s version of Market it Write Monday Madeleines, our collection of sometimes funny, sometimes witty, sometimes insightful content we bumped into on the web late last week. It’s a good distraction for a Monday – hope you agree.
FOKI: The Shoes That Clean The Floor
Maybe just what you’ve been looking for. These shoes are called FOKI, and they will bring you as much joy as free time to do what you actually want to do when off work because they vacuum the floor while you’re walking on it. Wonder if they’ll catch on or if people will think they just kind of suck. Thanks to @adamsconsulting for the lead on this story reported by Richard Darell, founder of Bit Rebels and @Minervity.
The Evolution of Spam – An Email Marketing Infographic
This clever infographic from Marketo shows the evolution of “The World’s Most Hated Unsolicited Messages.” The timeline starts in 9500 BC and progresses through modern day. The added benefit comes at the end when Marketo provides some tips for “How To Not Look Like a Spammer” when you engage in email marketing. Thanks to @TheKernOrg for bringing this our way so we could share it with you.
MI6 attacks al-Qaeda in ‘Operation Cupcake’
The Daily Telegraph (UK) reports that when al-Qaeda followers tried to download a 67-page color magazine with instructions about how to “Make a bomb in the Kitchen of your Mom”, an instruction manual featuring a recipe that shows how to make a lethal pipe bomb from sugar, match heads, a miniature light bulb and a timer, what they actually got were recipes for “The Best Cupcakes in America” published by the Ellen DeGeneres show. The old switcheroo was put in place by British intelligence hackers after a similar plan was nixed by the CIA in the U.S. Brought to us by @Allan_Lennon.
