Social Media Erupts over Kenneth Cole Tweet—But what is the Real Fallout?
Here’s something interesting to think about. Fashion mogul Kenneth Cole enraged Twitter and Facebook followers with an insensitive tweet about the cause of the unrest in Cairo, quickly apologized and two hours later removed the tweet. But the PR momentum was already in full swing with mentions from the likes of CNN, Forbes, Huffington Post, CBS Money Watch and others. The question is, will this become a common PR tactic in the future? Thought provoking, with plenty of interesting comments that are worth a read. What are your thoughts? Thanks to @RobinWalker for pointing us to this one.
Egypt’s ‘Day of Departure’ Protests – in Pictures [PICS]
For a stirring peek at the real thing, here’s a collection of some amazing photos taken in Cairo that capture some of the emotions and struggles of anti-Mubarek protesters. Thanks to @ramcnn (Ram Ramgopal, Executive Producer for CNN and former India correspondent) for sharing this.
Valentine’s Day National Adopt-a-Thon for Homeless Pets
On a lighter, more heart-warming note, if you’ve been considering adopting a pet, Valentine’s Day weekend’s a great time to do it for a worthy cause. More than 1,000 PetSmart stores across the country will sponsor the three day event from February 13-15th. PetSmart Inc. and co-sponsor Hill’s Pet Nutrition have invited more than 1,000 animal rescue groups and municipal shelters to include the pets in their care in the adopt-a-thon. Hill’s will donate $5.00 to PetSmart Charities for every pet adopted during the event. If you love cats, you’ll smile at the irresistible photo of Ghost in this article. Awww! Thanks to @news_fst for spreading the word.

But here are some uncensored clips provided by E*TRADE that may not have made it past the cutting room floor. And yes, you can follow the little guy on Twitter @etradebaby, but don’t expect him to follow back.
