Thanksgiving is over and thoughts turn to holiday shopping and decorating. Unfortunately, this year’s Black Friday was once again marred by the insanity of shoppers whipped into a bargain frenzy. This week’s Monday Madeleines edition takes a look at the concept of competitive shopping, ending with a holiday lights display that is nothing short of mind blowing. Enjoy!

For those who want the gory details on the latest display of shopping insanity, this piece on CNN summarizes the events of the day. A Connecticut reporter aptly summed it all up with “You see sides of people that they, themselves didn’t even know existed.”

Video of the Week
If you’re thinking about getting competitive with your holiday lights, here’s a video that will inspire you. While we might have dismissed this as going overboard and losing sight of the meaning of the season, its support of the Make-A-Wish foundation is noteworthy. As is the amazing creative and scientific genius from which the finished product is crafted.
